The Röszke border crossing stations have been closed for thirty days, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó confirmed the decision of Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér on Wednesday afternoon on the current affairs public service television channel M1.
The police suspended traffic at the Röszke border crossing stations on the M5 motorway and the old express road No. 5 as of 7.00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Mr Szijjártó said: they have informed the neighbouring countries of the decision, while they have further notified the countries which look upon the roads of Hungary as major transportation routes. The European Commission has also been notified.
The Minister stressed: the violent, aggressive migrants attacking members of the Hungarian police from Serbian territories are not peaceful immigrants, but “we are facing a massive challenge of aggressive mass migration”. He found it incredible and unacceptable that migrants should act in this manner towards members of the Hungarian law enforcement agency.
