“Serbia and Hungary are coordinating efforts to protect against the coronavirus”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a video published on Sunday following a meeting with Serbian Finance Minister Siniša Mali.

Mr. Szijjártó highlighted: “The Hungarians and Serbians live in close interdependence, particularly in situations that involve such a major challenge”. The Minister said he and his Serbian counterpart are in continuous hotline contact. At their meeting on Sunday, the parties reviewed the situation that has developed along their borders. They agreed that one of their important duties is to maintain the continuous flow of goods in the interests of supplying the Hungarian and Serbian people. “Last year, trade flow between he two countries exceeded 2.5 billion euros”, he highlighted. The parties also agreed to coordinate their measures aimed at rebooting the economy, the Minister explained, adding that they will be keeping each other continuously informed in the upcoming period. “The goal is to be able to provide the best possible solutions to the major challenges we face”, Mr. Szijjártó declared.
