“Six million masks and three million pairs of gloves arrived in Hungary from China on Saturday”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The Minister said that Wizz Air’s planes have flown to China and back some fifty times to date within the framework of the China-Hungary airlift. “The company’s performance is extremely important in view of the fact that their planes are bringing the equipment that is vital to the success of healthcare protection to Hungary”, he emphasised. “The masks and gloves were brough to Hungary from two Chinese cities by four planes; the equipment will be taken to the central storage facility following customs and quality control checks”, he added. “And from the warehouse they will find be distributed to hospitals and clinics”, the Minister informed the press.

Mr. Szijjártó also said that in the upcoming weeks many more Wizz Air and other cargo planes will be landing on the tarmac at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport in view of the fact that they will be bringing many million more face masks and gloves, as well as thousands of respirators, to Budapest based on the quantities agreed upon so far.
