“Some one hundred enterprises have submitted an application within the framework of the investment funding tender relaunched on Tuesday morning”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday.

Mr. Szijjártó reminded the press that in the interests of protecting jobs the government had previously afforded Hungarian enterprises a funding opportunity, as part of which enterprises realise investment projects to protect their workplaces, and the government provides half the sum of the investment from the budget. “806 enterprises operating in Hungary submitted applications, of which 673 made use of the government support. In the upcoming month, these enterprises will be realising 318 billion forints (EUR 596 million) in investment, towards which they are receiving 151 billion forints (EUR 425 million) in state funding. Thanks to these investments, 120 thousand workplaces are being successfully protected”, he stated.

“The government originally authorised a budget of 169 billion forints (EUR 476 million) in funding for the Program, in view of which the tender was reopened on Tuesday with relation to the remaining 18 billion forints (EUR 50.7 million) in available funding. Within fifteen minutes, 98 enterprises had submitted applications with respect to 47.5 billion forints (EUR 133.8 million) in investments, towards which they requested 22 billion forints (EUR 62 million) in state funding”, he highlighted. “The tender has been closed, and the assessment of applications will occur very rapidly to ensure that these Hungarian enterprises receive the funding required for them to realise their investment projects as soon as possible, and thereby contribute to the effective protection of the workplaces of Hungarian people”, the Minister added.
