The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was shocked to learn of the major destruction caused by forest fires in the State of California in the United States, in which, according to the information currently available, at least 31 people have lost their lives and over 200 people are registered as missing, in addition to which thousands of buildings have been destroyed.

The Ministry expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured a speedy recovery. Hungary assures its ally, the United States, of its solidarity in these difficult times.

The consular service is in continuous contact with the local authorities, and according to the information provided no Hungarians have been harmed in the forest fires.
