Contrary to misleading information circulated by certain opposition politicians and media outlets regarding the Hungarian delegation’s recent visit to Washington, the facts are as follows: Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his delegation attended the Nuclear Security Summit in response to a personal invitation from the President of the United States Barack Obama.

The invitation to the Nuclear Security Summit is evidence of the recognition of Hungary’s achievements in the fields of nuclear energy and nuclear security.

Representatives of the countries attending the summit have made a number of decisions to improve nuclear security, and Hungary has actively participated in preparing these decisions.

These summits also provide an opportunity to conduct bilateral meetings. Accordingly, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held meetings with President of the Swiss Confederation Johann Schneider-Ammann and President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili.

Minister of National Development Miklós Seszták accepted an award presented to Hungary for its progress in the field of nuclear security.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held bilateral talks with his Argentinian, Brazilian and Nigerian counterparts Susana Malcorra, Mauro Vieira and Geoffrey Onyeama. He also met heads of companies which have already invested in Hungary, or are planning to do so.
