US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland’s words were published incorrectly in the Hungarian press due to a translation error.
At the hearing of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations yesterday, Victoria Nuland did not speak about applying pressure with relation to Hungary. On the contrary, she spoke about how the mentioned countries - in addition to Hungary, Cyprus and Greece - backed EU sanctions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade noted the news with satisfaction.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó emphasised that Hungary had adhered to all joint European decisions and would continue to do so.
On the occasion of her planned Budapest visit, Assistant Secretary of State Nuland will have the opportunity to review the means of the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict with the representatives of the Hungarian government in detail as well.
