“Hungary expects the Austrian EU-Presidency to practice a totally new politics that is the complete reverse of Brussels’ existing migration policy, and the Hungarian Government will be providing all possible support towards this”, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, according to whom the battle with the forces that are organising migration must continue.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister reacted to the Austrian Chancellor’s speech in the European Parliament on Tuesday, in which Sebastian Kurz stressed: during its Presidency of the European Union, Austria will be working to create a safe Europe, and views the reduction of illegal migration as one of its most important tasks.

The Minister said that following the last meeting of the European Council we must expect more political struggles, and the battle against illegal immigration and the forces that are organising it must continue to be fought in the upcoming period.

“While Europe is not prepared to protect its own external borders and is incapable of doing so, and while hot-spots are established within EU territory, the immigration crisis will continue”, Mr. Szijjártó said.

“It must be declared that Europe can only be entered legally, and that those who have arrived illegally must return to where they came from”, the Minister underlined.

The Foreign Minister also said that the Soros network and Brussels institutions will continue to do everything possible to strip member states of their migration-related spheres of competence and transfer them to Brussels, and by doing so to make Europe an “immigrant continent”, replace Europe’s people and change the make-up of its population.

“However, Hungary will continue to take firm action in future to ensure that European migration policy begins with the protection of eternal borders and every country is free to decide for itself who it admits and who it wants to live with”, the Minister stated.
