“It is in Hungary’s interests for the negotiations on Great Britain’s exit of the European Union to end with a comprehensive free trade agreement”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Budapest on Tuesday following a press conference on another topic.
The Minister pointed out that without such an agreement the regulations of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) will come into force, which as he explained would represent a significant barrier to economic cooperation between the UK and the European Union.
“Hungary is an open economy, and unhindered cooperation with British investors is in its fundamental interests, for which reason it would be negatively affected by any kind of difficulty with relation to cooperation”, he added.
Mr. Szijjártó stressed that the stability of the British Government and of Great Britain is important not only to Hungary, but for the whole of Europe.
