“The French and Luxembourgian foreign ministers still want the illegal immigrants to be mandatorily distributed among the member states of the European Union”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.
In reaction to the statements made by the foreign ministers of France and Luxembourg, Mr. Szijjártó added: “This would represent a huge danger and a further increase in the threat of terrorism”.
According to the Hungarian Foreign Minister, it should be the duty of European leaders to restore security to the European people. “This first and foremost requires that we should be able to protect Europe’s borders on both land and sea. The Hungarian Government has done the former, and the Italian Government is now attempting to do the latter, and this is why Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini have formed an alliance”, he added.
Mr. Szijjártó also drew the French Foreign Minister’s attention to the fact that Hungary has never been and is still not France’s colony, and accordingly asked him to “in future refrain from the colonial tone he has used with relation to Hungary in recent days”.
