“The global pandemic is not just a health issue, but also an economic issue in view of the fact that in addition to human health, the coronavirus is also endangering jobs”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated on his Facebook page on Friday.
He stressed that in addition to protecting health, protecting jobs is also an important task. “Three weeks ago in cooperation with the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), the Ministry launched the program within the framework of which it is providing funding towards the investment projects of enterprises that undertake to maintain the jobs of people who work for them. 280 enterprises in Hungary have already applied for the program so far within the space of three weeks, undertaking to realise 138 billion forints (EUR 394 million) in investments to protect a total of 50,828 workplaces”, Mr. Szijjártó added. “The Program proves that solidarity between enterprises and the government is successful, and for this reason next week the Cabinet will be discussing the possible doubling of the original 50-billion-forint (EUR 142.5 million) funding budget”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced.
