“The goal of Hungary and Slovakia continues to be unhindered economic and trade cooperation”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a social media post published n Sunday.

The Minister said he had received a phone call on Friday afternoon from Slovakia’s new Economy Minister, Richard Sulik, who is currently also temporarily serving as the country’s Foreign Minister.

“We agreed that we will continue to do everything possible for the unhindered development of economic and trade cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia. Accordingly, we will continue to facilitate the free movement of goods accross our borders, the significance of which is underlined by the fact that Slovakia is Hungary’s third most significant trade partner”, the Minister said. Mr. Szijjártó pointed out that trade flow between Hungary and Slovakia exceeded 10 billion euros last year.

“The rapid crossing of our borders by heavy goods vehicles is vital to maintaining the operating capability of the economy, and to enable us to guarantee the continuous supply of the public”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade declared.
