“The Government condemns the terrorist attack in Egypt on Friday, which claimed at least 200 lives and injured over a hundred people, in the strongest possible terms”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade told Hungarian news agency MTI.
In the statement, the Ministry expresses its condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the inured a speedy recovery.
“The Hungarian Government is highly appreciative of the Egyptian security forces’ fight against terrorism and is providing all possible instruments in support of their efforts, and assures the people of Egypt of its support”, the statement reads.
“Terrorism has no religion or homeland, and accordingly it is the enemy of Christians, Muslims and all peace-loving peoples”, the Ministry stressed.
An explosion and mass shooting occurred at a mosque on the Sinai Peninsula on Friday. According to Egyptian television, the attack left 235 people dead and injured 109 others.
