“The Hungarian government has given Hungarian interests a priority throughout the Brexit process”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s State Secretary for Information and the International Representation of Hungary Tamás Menczer said in a video posted on his Facebook page on Saturday.

Mr. Menczer said that “because of the mistakes made by Brussels and the Juncker Commission”, the British are preparing to leave the European Union, and British Parliament will be voting on what seems to be the final agreement proposal on Saturday.

“It is in Hungary’s interests for the rights of Hungária living in the UK to suffer absolutely no restrictions, and the British have agreed, on a mutual basis, that this will be the case”, the State Secretary highlighted.

The government also regards it as important for the closest possible economic, trade and defence cooperation to be established between Great Britain and the European Union following Brexit, in view of the fact that the British economy is the second largest in the EU and the world’s fifth largest”, he emphasised. “Hungary also has an interest in close cooperation because the 750 British enterprises currently operating in Hungary are providing jobs to over 60 thousand people”, he added.

“British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is implementing the will of the British people with relation to Brexit”, Mr. Menczer said, and accordingly in his opinion “he deserves respect and cooperation, not criticism”.
