Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Li Yong on Wednesday, during the course of which the parties agreed that in addition to handling the consequences of immigration, its causes must also be tackled.

The press release provided to Hungarian news agency MTI by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade revealed that Péter Szijjártó and Li Yong also agreed that the solution to the migration challenge faced by Europe should be searched for outside the European Union and not within it.

According to the Ministry’s statement, the parties agreed that Hungary and UNIDO would cooperate closely to put in place development schemes that create jobs in the countries of origin of the migrants, resulting in less migratory pressure on Europe for economic reasons.
