According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the Soros university isn’t searching for a solution, it just wants a political commotion.
Mr. Szijjártó issued a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Friday in response to the fact that President and Rector of the Central European University (CEU) Michael Ignatieff wrote him a letter, which he also sent to the press on Thursday.
In the statement, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said that he had not yet received Mr. Ignatieff’s letter when the Rector made it public to the press. In his opinion, this also indicates that the Soros university is not searching for a solution, but just wants a political commotion.
In the letter, Michael Ignatieff wrote: “the CEU has been searching for a solution to enable it to remain in Hungary for eighteen months”, but the statements made by Péter Szijjártó indicate that the government has already made the decision with relation to the institution.
