Parliamentary State Secretary László Szabó said that the Government’s goal is to improve the infrastructure between Hungary and neighbouring countries as much as possible.
According to Mr. Szabó, Hungary currently has one hundred low- and high-volume border crossing points, and fifty more are planned to be in operation by 2020. This will help to improve the economy of border areas, provide opportunities for business and tourism, and increase trade flows. Three new border crossing points will be opened between Hungary and Serbia in the near future, two of which – between Röszke and Horgos – will open this month. The State Secretary said that an important objective is for the River Tisza to become an international waterway.
