The UN Global Compact for Migration wants to manage migration not stop it, and they are portraying migration as if it bore no security risk.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Tuesday morning current affairs program, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said the UN Global Compact or Migration portrays the phenomenon as some kind of fundamental human right, which is “nonsense”, since there exists no right for someone to “stick their finger on the map” and then violate the borders of dozens of countries to get there.

“This document is also dangerous because it states that by definition every single country in the world must choose at least one of the three categories according to which it wants to be a starting point, transit country or target country for migration, and, while ignoring their right to do so, it doesn’t say a word about those countries that do not want to choose any of these options”, he added, stressing that Hungary is one such country. He highlighted the fact that it is the sovereign right of the Hungarian state to decide who it wants to allow in, and who it doesn’t.

He drew attention to the fact  that this is the document that the European Union wants to make mandatory for all member states. Speaking on Kossuth Radio’s “Good Morning, Hungary!” show, the Minister also spoke about the fact that there are those who believe that the European Union will be strong if it is comprised of weakened member states, but the Hungarian Government rejects this and regards it as a dead end.

“We believe in a European Union made up of strong countries that insist on their identity, and on their cultural, religious and historic traditions and heritage”, Mr Szijjártó stressed. The dispute not only concerns the above, but also the handling of migration, he added.
