The foreign ministers of the Turkic Council will be meeting in Hungary prior to the opening of a European representation in Budapest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Monday. Thanks to the meeting to be held prior to the opening of the representation, this will be the first ever time that the ministers of the Turkic Council will not be meeting in one of the Council’s member countries.
Hungary received observer status in the organisation in 2018 at the 6th summit of the Cooperation Council of the Turkish-speaking States. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received the organisation’s Secretary General, Baghdad Amreyev on Monday. The Turkic Council will be opening its European Representation in Budapest on 19 September in the presence of the foreign minister of all four member states: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kirgizstan.
