“People will be able to travel without restriction to Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia from this Friday”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on his Facebook page on Thursday evening.

“In recent days, we have held a host of telephone discussions on the lifting of the restrictions currently in force along our borders with my Austrian, Czech and Slovakian counterparts, foreign ministers Alexander Schellenberg, Tomáš Petříček and Ivan Korčok. We eventually succeeded in coming to an agreement on all technical issues, and accordingly Hungarian, Czech, Austrian and Slovakian citizens will be able to travel to each other’s countries without restriction beginning at around 8 o’clock tomorrow morning,”, Mr. Szijjártó said.

“This means that from Friday there will be no need for a negative coronavirus test, and people will also not have to go into quarantine after travelling to or returning from Austria, the Czech Republic or Slovakia, in addition to which the current 48-hour limit will also be abolished”, he explained.
