“Hungary is spending the money on families, not migrants”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday.

The Minister was reacting to the fact that in a twitter post Swedish Minister for Social Affairs Annika Strandhäll commented. “What is happening in Hungary is alarming. What Orbán wants now is for more ‘true’ Hungarian children to be born. The policy stinks of the 1930s, and as a right-wing populist he must obscure the consequences this policy is having on the independence for which women have fought”.

With relation to the tweet, Mr. Szijjártó highlighted: “In Sweden they are spending the money on migrants, not families”.

“The Swedish government is not prepared to accept the fact that we are spending the money on families, and not on migrants”, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said.
