“The Government knows exactly what George Soros wants; he wants to bring the illegal immigrants into Europe”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó highlighted in an interview for Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap, adding: “We reject this, and accordingly the Hungarian Government is standing in the way” of George Soros.
In the interview published in the Thursday edition of the paper, Mr. Szijjártó stressed: “The people of Hungary elected the Hungarian Government and Parliament, not George Soros”. “The Hungarians can decide what is good for them without needing an American speculator”, he noted.
“George Soros has explained what he wants, and this is what we are calling the Soros Plan”, the Foreign Minister highlighted. “He can now try to explain that this isn’t really what he meant, but we must not be naïve”, Mr. Szijjártó said.
“The elections are approaching”, said the Hungarian Foreign Minister, according to whom now that George Soros had become personally involved in making statements, “a time of new momentum” had also come in the fight he has launched against the Government,
George Soros “does not want a force that practices sovereign and independent politics, and which is capable of protecting the country from external influences, to be in government”, he added.
Mr. Szijjártó also reported on the fact that last year’s foreign investment record has already been broken. “According to the latest figures published on Wednesday, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) has successfully negotiated 78 new investments”, the Minister told the press, adding: “This number will increase further before the end of the year”.
With regard to the total value of investments, which hit 3.2 billion euros last year with the construction of Mercedes’ second plant, Mr. Szijjártó said: “There are still one or two ‘big bangs’ scheduled for this year, and if we can ‘reel these in’ by mid-December then this record could also be broken”.
“In addition, last year decisions were made concerning the creation of over 17 thousand new workplaces, and we are expecting a similar order of magnitude this year”, he emphasised.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade also highlighted the fact that Hungary is providing an attractive investment environment for countries that bring capital-intensive investments here, with investments on the part of Chinese, Japanese and Korean companies increasing to the greatest extent.
He also stressed that the countries of the Visegrád Group (V4) are offering the most competitive investment environment in all of Europe, and the V4 are the engines of European economic growth.
