Luxembourgian foreign minister Jean Asselborn is not on the Hungarian electoral registry, so “what he says is irrelevant”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The Minister was reacting to the fact that in an article published in German daily Die Welt on Monday, Jean Asselborn said: The European Union must take firm action following Fidesz’s large-scale election victory; it must neutralise this “pathological anomaly” that has appeared EU values.

The Luxembourgian foreign minister said that particularly in light of the Hungarian election result “It is up to Germany and France, along with all member states that aren't counting on indifference, to weigh in unambiguously on the basis of the European treaties to neutralize this tumour of values”.
