“Wizz Air’s 100th aeroplane transporting the equipment required for health protection from China to Hungary arrived in Budapest on Friday”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on his Facebook page on Friday.
“A total of 131,110,251 face masks, 1,928,695 isolation jackets, 516,280 face visors and 3062 respirators have arrived in Hungary to date, of which 3 million 900 thousand masks, 5 million pairs of gloves and 384 respirators arrived on Saturday and over the past two days”, Mr. Szijjártó highlighted.
In his post, the Minister also published a video in which he said a special thank you to the members of the logistics working group, pilots and airport workers for their “fantastic” performance, following his return from an official visit to Belgrade. “Thanks to our joint effort, we are now at a stage where over the past month and a half a total of 130 aeroplanes, including those of Wizz Air, have flown within the framework of the China-Hungary airlift”, the Minister stated. In the video, Mr. Szijjártó said: “The pandemic has also shown us that if a state does not possess its own freight transport capacities then from that point on it is only question of luck whether it is able to acquire capacities for itself”. He also said the one hundredth Wizz Air plane would not be the last, because Hungary is preparing for long-term defence against the virus.
