“Over 2300 people from 118 countries have registered to attend the Budapest World Water Summit, which begins on Tuesday; more than for the previous two events”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Deputy State Secretary for Export Development and Chair of the inter-ministerial committee charged with preparations for the event István Joó said in a statement to Hungarian news agency MTI on Monday.
The Deputy State Secretary told MTI that in addition to over 30 ministerial-level delegations, the leaders of international organisations and multilateral financial institutions, as well as water experts, will be discussing water-related problems and the prevention of a global water crisis. “Over 80 speakers will be giving lectures in 10 plenary sections during the course of the three-day conference, and a further 16 accompanying events will be awaiting the participants”, he added.
“As part of the conference, a water industry expo entitled Digital and Nature-Based Sustainable Solutions will also be held. Thirty exhibitors on an area of two thousand square metres will be showcasing the innovations of the Hungarian water industry, which could play an important role in preventing a water crisis”, the statement reads. The Budapest World Water Summit will be opened by President of the Republic János Áder. The opening ceremony, which begins at 09:30 a.m., will be broadcast live on the event’s website. The expo may be visited without prior registration on Wednesday and Thursday in Building B of the Millenáris Park.
