Hungary is initiating the installation of long-term OSCE observers in Transcarpathia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday in Vienna.
“No hearing or application of pressure will dissuade the Hungarian Government from representing the standpoint of the Hungarian people; the Cabinet will stick to its migration policy”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at a press conference in Brussels following the hearing of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) on Thursday, the main topic of which was the state of the rule of law in Hungary.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said the decision on the mandatory resettlement quota was “unimplementable” at his press conference in Brussels on Thursday, in response to the fact that the infringement proceedings launched against Hungary for rejecting the refugee quotas are moving forward into their court stage.
“Hungary is in a major dispute with the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) with relation to illegal immigration, which is a key determining issue from the perspective of the continent’s future”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the body’s session in Brussels on Thursday.
Minister of State for Public Administration and Co-Chair of the Hungarian-Algerian Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation Dr. Csaba Balogh was on an official to Algiers on 4-5 December. In addition to co-chairing the session of the Joint Economic Committee, the Minister of State also held meetings with Algeria’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, as well as holding negotiations on topics relating to agriculture and sport.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Minister of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation met with several Ministers in Sudan, where he signed agreements on agriculture, healthcare and education. István Mikola highlighted: Hungary highly appreciates Sudan’s stability and the role it has played in slowing the wave of migration from Africa, and hopes this will continue in future.
“The terrorist attacks committed in Europe during the course of the past two years prove that migration represents the most serious security challenge for Europe”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared in the recess of the two-day meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Wednesday.

“Europe’s security and competitiveness requires strong cooperation between the United States and the European Union, including in the fight against terrorism”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared on Tuesday after taking part in a joint working lunch with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, and the foreign ministers of the European Union’s 28 member states.
