On Tuesday Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó attended an election event of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Pančevo, western Banat. At the event he stressed that in recent years Serbia’s government has achieved economic successes which are acknowledged Europe-wide. With its governmental achievements Serbia has gained a strong and respected position for itself, he said, adding that this is precisely in the interests of Hungary and of Hungarians living in Serbia.
On Tuesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó received President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunto. The two politicians agreed that not since the end of World War II has Europe had to face challenges which are as numerous and serious as it is facing now.
“Germany is Hungary’s most important partner both politically and economically”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in Berlin prior to a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
“In addition to the political risk, the migration crisis also poses a serious economic risk, because the crisis and the lack of a joint European response to it is endangering the Schengen Area, which if it were to collapse would be a ‘coup de grace’ for Europe from an economic perspective”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said.
At the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington D.C., which ended on Friday with the participant states formulating commitments and adopting a closing document, Hungary undertook to help develop cybernetic defence, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian news agency MTI.
Hungarian Minster of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, who is currently in Washington D.C. attending the Nuclear Security Summit, conducted bilateral negotiations and concluded economic cooperation agreements with his Brazilian and Nigerian colleagues on Friday.
On Thursday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held negotiations with the vice presidents of General Electric and Google, both members of the US-Hungarian Business Council.

Deputy State Secretary for southerly opening Szilveszter Bus delivered the opening speech at the event. Surin Pitsuwan, former Secretary-General of ASEAN and former Thai Foreign Minister spoke as the guest of honour of the conference.
As turning towards Asia in Hungarian politics has further increased the significance of relations with Korea for Hungary, so has the significance of the Central-European region increased for Korea in recent years: within the European continent, our region has entered the focus of the building of Korean political and economic relations, Szilveszter Bus, Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on Thursday in Budapest.
In Argentina there is demand primarily for Hungarian agricultural technologies and processed foodstuffs, but there are ample export opportunities for the products of the pharmaceutical industry and the automotive industry as well, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said, who had talks with his Argentinian counterpart Foreign Relations Minister Susana Malcorra on Thursday morning, local time, before the official opening of the international summit on nuclear security held in Washington.
