Following the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told journalists that the European Union must pay increased attention to its neighbours because instability in partner countries could pose significant threats to Europe.
As a reaction to the interview of Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann given to German daily Die Welt, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told Hungarian News Agency MTI that it would be unacceptable if EU funds – Hungary rightfully receives and is entitled to – would be taken away as revenge due to the disagreement on the management of the migration crisis.
On Tuesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with President of the Ukrainian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Hanna Hopko.
Following discussions between Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Secretary General of the Federation of Austrian Industry Christoph Neumayer on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade informed Hungarian news agency MTI that Austrian companies are reliable partners of Hungary.

On Friday, following a conference organised to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the International Visegrád Fund, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told the press that the cooperation of the Visegrád Group has never been as important as it is now, as due to the migration crisis, the European Union is currently facing the gravest challenge of its history.
In connection with the closing event of the European Year for Development 2015 held on 9 December, EU international development ministers held an informal meeting in Luxemburg on Thursday, where Hungary was represented by Minister of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade István Mikola.
In Budapest on Thursday, the Hungarian Grémound Ltd. and Botswanan Biomass Energy Ltd. have signed a EUR 20 million contract on delivering technology for the construction of affordable housing. This is actually the second contract of this kind for Grémound in this region.
On Thursday in Belgrade, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov held talks on world politics and Hungarian-Russian relations.
