“Budapest will be the capital of families during the second half of this week”, the Ministry of Human Capacities’ Minister of State for Family, Youth and International Affairs Katalin Novák said on Hungarian M1 television’s Monday morning current affairs program with relation to the fact that the Hungarian capital will be hosting the four-day World Congress of Families.

“The Budapest Demographics Forum will be held on Thursday, in which scientists, politicians and representatives of non-governmental organisations will take part. The World Congress of Families, which is being held for the eleventh time, but for the first time in Hungary, will be held on Friday. On Saturday, an event called “One of Us” will be held, focussing on families and pro-life issues. Then on Childers’s Day on Sunday, we will be awaiting the participation of all families at a huge family festival on Andrássy Avenue”, Ms. Novák explained.

Speaking later on Kossuth Radio’s “180 minutes” program, the Minister of State also spoke about the fact that “Europe is experiencing a demographic crisis, in addition to which a crisis of values may also be observed in the Western world in view of the fact that in many cases traditional family values are in decline”. She said Hungary was exemplary from the point of view that the Government’s decisions and family policy are aimed at the consistent representation of these values.
