The Hungarian economy needs graduates with competitive and applicable knowledge, and accordingly the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) supports the introduction of a dual higher education system, MKIK President László Parragh said at press conference in Budapest on Thursday.

Minister of State for Higher Education László Palkovics said that the feedback from economic operators is important for the Government, as the aim is to have a higher education system whose graduates are equipped with applicable skills and knowledge and research centres whose results can be incorporated into the economy.

Mr. Parragh said a dual higher education system would equate to significant savings for employers, given the fact that integrating a freshly graduated engineer currently costs about as much as his or her higher education.
Mr. Palkovics said that the Government plans to introduce dual higher education from the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year.
