On the initiative of Minister of Human Capacities Prof. Dr. Miklós Kásler, a scientific consortium has been set up on the proposal of the Ministry and with the support of the Operational Staff.

The team of experts began work a week ago, and has been tasked with examining the possibility of collecting blood plasma from patients who have successfully undergone a coronavirus infection and who therefore have an effective immune reaction against the virus, and the possible use of that plasma for therapeutic purposes.

The work, which is currently in the research phase, is being coordinated by Director General of the South Pest Hospital Centre Prof. Dr. István Vályi-Nagy. The other members of the scientific consortium include staff from the National Centre for Public Health, the National Institute of Pharmacy and Nutrition, and the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service.

The goal of the scientific research is the passive immunization of patients who have been infected with the virus.
