“The Government is helping the employment of women through training courses, and local municipalities have from 19 May until the depletion of the available budget or 21 May 2018 at the latest to submit their applications to participate in the programme”, The Ministry of Human Capacities’ Minister of State for Family, Youth and International Affairs said on Monday at the opening ceremony of GE Hungary’s fourth Working Parents’ Day in Budapest.
Katalin Novák told reporters that local governments and consortiums led by local governments will be able to apply for 150-200 million forints in funding.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Human Capacities, the Government is spending a total of 9 billion forints (EUR 29M) on facilitating the atypical work and employment of women. At the press conference, Ms. Novák highlighted the fact that the Government will be establishing centres where women can take part in training courses that facilitate their flexible employment on the job market.
“Local employers and local non-governmental organisations will also be partners in the initiative”, she added. “According to the latest figures, the employment of women in Hungary has almost caught up to the EU average, but that of mothers raising small children remains well below the European Union average”, the Minister of State pointed out.
Working Parents’ Day is a voluntary initiative launched by GE employees to mark International Family Day on 16 May, and with which the company assists its several thousand employees in 140 countries. At the event, those interested can participate in lectures and get advice from experts with relation to successfully balancing work and family life, in addition to which the company’s directors also share their own experiences with them.
