At Wednesday’s session of the Public Education Roundtable, 100 experts made proposals on a total of 150 topics covering, amongst others, the 25 points put forward by the National Union of Teachers. In addition to the Public Education Roundtable, negotiations are also in progress with trade unions in accordance with the Labour Code, the results of which are expected to correspond with the work and findings of the Roundtable.
At the second session of the Roundtable, the most important topics of the various working groups (Content Development, Child-Student Careers, Teacher Professional Strategy, Teacher Vocation, Maintainer Management and Public Education Management) encompassed reducing the administrative burdens on teachers including via optimising the classification system, reviewing issues relating to teachers’ work schedules, employing retired teachers until the end of the given period, the question of compulsory schooling, reviewing the sphere of responsibility of head teachers, unification of teacher training, reviewing the National Curriculum and Framework Curriculum and the principles behind the restructuring designed to provide a high level of student knowledge and skill development, the tailor-made development of children with differing capabilities and skills within the same school, assuring the financial requirements for the Arany János Talent Development Programme and issues relating to the organisational development of the Education Office and the Institute for Educational Research and Development. Roundtable discussions centred especially on solving the financial difficulties of the Klebelsberg Institution Maintenance Centre and fundamental principles were determined regarding the new structure of the maintenance organisation, the detailed development of which has already begun.
