On Monday, Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér received his Austrian counterpart Wolfgang Sobotka in his office.
At the bilateral meeting the two politicians mutually confirmed their commitment to continuing the traditionally excellent home affairs cooperation between Hungary and Austria, especially in relation to the biggest current challenge which both countries must jointly face: fighting illegal migration. This is of special significance in terms of cooperation between countries which are on the migration route between Greece and Germany.
Mr. Sobotka gave information on the provisions of new asylum regulations which were recently approved, their practical implementation and the border controls temporarily re-established on the Austrian-Hungarian border.
Also on the agenda of the meeting were agreements between the two ministries and their implementing organisations, and questions of cooperation on criminal and educational matters.
