Deputy Minister Károly Kontrát, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior handed over decorations at the ceremony held at the Ministry of Interior on the occasion of our State Holiday 20 August.
The Deputy Minister stressed, among others, in his ceremonial speech: Hungary exists today because the generations that went before us stood up for their country when the need emerged, and preserved the foundations that St. Stephen laid down. He highlighted that it is thanks to the foundations laid by St. Stephen that we are able to stand our ground in the mass migration that is threatening Europe, and then pointed out: also today, Hungary is at the forefront in the protection of Europe, and therefore the police officers and soldiers protecting our borders deserve our gratitude.
On behalf of the donors, at the event Mr Kontrát handed over 40 decorations granted by the President of the Republic, three honorary chief clerk titles, one chief advisor for national security title, nine Life Saver Medals and 11 Honours for Courage, and also handed over two orders for extraordinary promotion to the rank of colonel.
