Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Republic of Serbia Dr. Nebojša Stefanović and Hungarian Minister of Interior Dr. Sándor Pintér held bilateral talks in Budapest on 8 June 2017.

The ministers reviewed the problematics of illegal immigration, the protection of external borders and current issues concerning the battle against people smuggling.

They determined that the cooperation between the two countries’ police bodies is excellent with regard to the fight against organised crime, and particularly highlighted the results achieved during action to prevent people smuggling, attributing the success to the work of joint investigation teams.

According to Mr. Stefanović, Serbian police have arrested more than two thousand people during the past two years on suspicion of people smuggling. The two interior ministers agreed that the rapid exchange of information was vital to the fight against terrorism and to preventing possible acts of terrorism.
