With relation to the statements attributed to opposition MPs following the session of Parliament’s National Security Committee on 20 November 2018, the Ministry of Interior would like to definitively underline: The Director General of the Immigration and Asylum Office provided authoritative legal information on Nikola Gruevski’s asylum request that fully conformed to the given situation.

The Ministry regards as unfair and categorically rejects all political attacks against government officials who are performing their duties in accordance with their oath of office. The Ministry of Interior would like to reaffirm: In the interests of complying with the stipulations of the Asylum Act, the Hungarian authorities cannot provide information with relation to any asylum proceedings to either the public or any other authority, with the exception of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Only the applicant is informed of the decision.
