“The Ministry of Interior and the police are fully prepared for the implementation of the ‘Stop Soros’ Act, and the coming into force of the legislative package means a further increase in the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people”, the Minister of Interior’s Parliamentary State Secretary said at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.

Károly Kontrát stressed: “The legislation that came into force at the beginning of this month provides the police with another strong tool with which to protect Hungary and the Hungarian people from illegal migration”.

“Because from now on it is a crime to organise illegal migration, and all those who encourage migrants to abuse Hungarian law are punishable”, the State Secretary explained.

“The strong legal mandate is necessary because the mass immigration that is affecting Europe is constant, and the ‘Soros network’ and Brussels’ pro-immigration politics are continuing to attempt to flood the continent with migrants”, he stated.

“Stricter regulations are also justified by the fact that the situation is critical along the Balkan migration route, where huge numbers of migrants want to travel on towards the EU with the help of various organisations and people smugglers”, Mr. Kontrát added.

“In such a situation, the “Stop Soros” legislative package has also amended the Police Act by stating that the police shall take part in the prevention of illegal immigration and introducing border security restraining orders. In addition, from now on requests for asylum cannot be accepted from people who have arrived in Hungary via a country in which they were in no danger of persecution, or who have travelled through a country in which they were afforded protection or would have been afforded protection if requested”, the State Secretary told the press.
