"The Hungarian-Serbian cooperation shown with regard to handling the migrant crisis serve as an outstanding example to others, while Croatia seems to be unable to deal with the situation” Minister of Justice László Trócsányi said in an interview published in a Serbian daily newspaper Večernje Novosti on 6 October 2015.

The Minister of Justice emphasised that the migrant crisis has also proved that joint European action is required to solve the situation.

In relation to the border barrier constructed along the Hungarian-Serbian border, László Trócsányi said that the barrier was absolutely necessary and would not be dismantled until there is a need for it. “The security fence does not solve the migrant crisis, but it was necessary to protect EU borders and ensure conformity to the Schengen regulations’, the Minister said, adding that the relative amended legislation also serves the same purpose. “The measures are proving effective, because the Hungarian Government had hoped that the numbers of immigrants would fall to a sixth or a seventh of the previous level, but their numbers have fallen even more drastically”, Mr. Trócsányi highlighted.

László Trócsányi repeated the position of the Hungarian Government according to which the future of the European Union is unimaginable without Serbia, and according Budapest is providing all possible support to Belgrade to enable Serbia to fulfil the requirements for full membership of the European Union as soon as possible.
