Minister of Justice László Trócsányi gave an interview to Belgian daily La Libre Belgique on 7 November. The Minister described Hungary as a “reliable partner of the European Union”.

Minister Trócsányi declared that leaving the European Union is out of question and it would not be an option in the future either. Hungary is a member state of the EU and “that is a fact”, he declared. There is a need for a strong Europe which relies on European values and does not get bogged down in bureaucracy.

During his visit to Brussels, Minister Trócsányi met Frans Timmermans, first Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner in charge of Better Regulation, Inter-Institutional Relations, the Rule of Law and the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

With regard to Hungary’s constitution, the Minister stated that he aims to continue dialogue both with Europe and various sections of society.
