Minister of Justice László Trócsányi arrived in Canada. The Minister will negotiate judicial cooperation on federal and provincial level, meet the representatives of Hungarian Canadians and participate in the commemoration of 15th March.
The negotiations focus on recent issues of judicial cooperation like fighting against terrorism and the regulation of migration. The Minister pays specific attention to the practice of linguistic rights of this bilingual country (English and French) and to experiences gained on the field of cultural diversity.
Minister Trócsányi will have discussions with his present counterpart and three federal ministers. Further meetings will be held with members of the Parliament of Canada, leaders of local jurisdiction and rectors of three universities.
Hungary is going to take over the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance on 10th March 2015. The Canadian programmes will be opened by Minister Trócsányi.
The Hungarian Canadians have the role of a ’bridge’ between the two nations. László Trócsányi will meet the representatives, participate in a citizenship oath, deliver a speech on the National Day of 15th March and hand over honours.
The visit fits into the renewed Hungarian-Canadian relations. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó negotiated in Canada while in turn, Speaker of the Senate of Canada Noël Kinsella was in Budapest during 2014.
