The government is still committed to combating any form of violence. On 14th March 2014, Hungary joined the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, better known as the Istanbul Convention.

The government fulfils its tasks in relation to the Convention. These tasks – including the assessment and coordination of legal, financial and institutional conditions for the ratification of the Convention – are performed by the working group to combat violence against women, which held its last meeting on 18th February 2015.

According to the decision of the government, the proposal of the act announcing the Convention will be brought to Parliament during the spring of 2015.
