At the ministerial conference held in The Hague on 20-21 May to adopt the International Energy Charter, Hungary was represented by Minister of State for Energy Affairs of the Ministry of National Development András Aradszki and Minister of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade István Mikola as members of the Hungarian delegation.

Hungary welcomes the achievements of the modernisation of the Energy Charter and will do everything to facilitate the implementation of the objectives laid down therein, Minister of State for Energy Affairs András Aradszki said. The International Energy Charter can be regarded as a milestone considering global energy regulation since it is able to coordinate diverse national regulations while respecting the sovereignty of individual member states over their energy resources, he emphasised in his address.
