György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister told Hungarian public television channel M1 that there is still continuous movement at the Hungarian border section secured by the border fence at present, and every day 60-150 people attempt to cross the border illegally.

Mr. Bakondi said that this number also includes those apprehended by patrol officers and directed back to the other side of the border. Recently, people smugglers rather opt for the Bosnia, Croatia route, but the number of migrants arriving from Bulgaria has also increased, he added.

Regarding the bomb blast on Teréz körút, the Chief Security Advisor has not confirmed Wednesday’s apprehension of the alleged perpetrator, but pointed out that in the past couple of weeks, most departments of the Hungarian police have made serious efforts to “find the perpetrator of this unprecedented, serious bomb blast targeting police officers”.

He added that during the investigation, police have experiences a great deal of public support.
