Last weekend the restrictions on movement were more closely observed in Budapest than elsewhere in the country, a staff member of the duty centre of the Operational Group responsible for the containment of the coronavirus epidemic said at an online press conference held on Monday.

Róbert Kiss highlighted that at the weekend throughout the country the police had taken action due to different violations in 3,945 instances. As a result, since the introduction of the restrictions on movement, this number has risen to 26,316. In the past 24 hours, there have been 1,738 breaches; the police have cautioned 816 persons, have imposed onsite fines in 521 instances, and have prosecuted 401 persons.

He said, compared with weekdays, at weekends more people tend to violate the restrictions on movement, but this time the police were not required to take action in Budapest. He said, based on their experience, last weekend people in Budapest observed the restrictions more closely than people in other parts of the country.

According to Mr Kiss’s information, on Sunday two cargo flights brought 22 tonnes of individual protective supplies to Budapest; one from Shanghai, the other one from Seoul.

In the past 24 hours, 750 compulsory home quarantine orders have been issued to persons entering the country. The trend observed earlier – that ever fewer quarantine orders are being imposed – is continuing. There are ever fewer people in compulsory home quarantine – 11,240 at present. So far the police have checked persons in compulsory home quarantine 252,576 times, he said.

To date, criminal procedures have been instituted against 247 persons; in 61 cases due to scaremongering, in 26 cases due to the threat of public danger, in 72 cases due to fraud and in 13 cases due to the violation of disease control regulations. So far 49 suspects have been interrogated.

Regarding border traffic, he said there are minor delays in incoming cargo traffic at Csanádpalota.
