“Instead of a useful and forward-looking alliance of free states, empire-building designs are taking shape that punish nation states”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said in Hungarian M1 television’s Sunday evening current affairs program.

Mr. Bakondi made the statement with relation to the fact that, according to the European People’s Party’s (EPP) top candidate for the post of President of the European Commission Manfred Weber, an independent body comprised of prestigious legal experts, and former members of the supreme and constitutional courts of member states and of the European Court of Justice should supervise the enforcement of rule of law principles in the member states of the European Union.

According to the Chief Advisor, several leaked documents and the statements of European Union leaders indicate that they want to make the UN Global Compact for Migration mandatory in EU law. “Several documents indicate that if the pro-immigration forces gain a majority at the upcoming European Parliament (EP) elections, then they will begin realising these plans. The Hungarian Government will continue to speak out against all such ideas at every forum. The stakes at the EP elections are extremely high”, Mr. Bakondi said.
