President of the Republic János Áder appointed the ministers of Viktor Orbán’s fourth Cabinet on Friday in Budapest, meaning the new Cabinet has now been officially formed.

President Áder presented the thirteen ministers of the new Cabinet with their credentials at the appointment ceremony, which began in the Sándor Palace at 9.a.m. on Friday morning.

Accordingly, Andrea Bártfai-Mager was appointed Minister without Portfolio for the Management of State Assets, Tibor Benkő is the new Minister of Defence, Gergely Gulyás was named Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office, Miklós Kásler was installed as Minister of Human Capacities, István Nagy is the new Minister of Agriculture and László Palkovics will be heading the newly formed Ministry of Innovation and Technology.

Sándor Pintér will continue as Minister of Interior and Antal Rogán will be heading the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister.

Zsolt Semjén was appointed as Minister without Portfolio for National Policy, Church Affairs and Nationalities, while János Süli will be participating in the work of the government as Minister without Portfolio for the Expansion of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. Péter Szijjártó, and László Trócsányi will continue in their respective posts as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister of Justice, while Mihály Varga was named Minister of Finance.

The President appointed the ministers of the new government in the presence of Viktor Orbán, effective from Friday.

In accordance with the Fundamental Law (constitution), the ministers are appointed by the President of the Republic based on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, and the Cabinet is automatically formed with the appointment of the ministers.

The members of Viktor Orbán’s fourth cabinet will be sworn in at the National Assembly’s plenary session on Friday morning.

Viktor Orbán was re-elected as Prime Minister by Parliament on 10 May.

The short event at the Sándor Palace, at which speeches were not given, was attended by family members and colleagues. The new Cabinet was greeted with a short presentation, after which the President’s Office invited those present to toast the newly appointed ministers.
