According to Tamás Deutsch, the article by George Soros published on Thursday represents an open declaration of war on Hungary’s democratically elected Prime Minister and Government, and makes it clear that he is prepared to take any and all antidemocratic steps within his power to ensure the defeat of the Cabinet.

At a press conference in Budapest, the Prime Ministerial Commissioner said George Soros had been waging a war against Hungary without a declaration for a long time, and this has now become clear to all concerned following the publication of his article, which is equivalent to a declaration of war.

“If he wants a war, then so be it, we are ready!”, Mr. Deutsch said. We had hope that “George Soros would not go to this extent”, he noted. “It would seem that our thoughts were led by the naivety that has been characteristic of us since the end of the 80s”, he added. In addition, Mr. Deutsch said he would be writing an official letter to the European Commission asking that the details of Thursday’s meeting between George Soros and the EU Commissioner responsible for immigration policy be made public.

Tamás Deutsch is expecting a clear and concise reply to the question of how the meeting between Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos and George Soros could have come about, who initiated the meeting, and when the general public would find out about the details of what they discussed.

The Fidesz politician said George Soros’s “dealings” with relation to illegal immigration are characterised by an amazing amount of spin. “The time has come when, with suitable respect, but clear determination, we must set the record straight”, Mr. Deutsh declared, stressing that the fact that George Soros is encouraging hundreds of thousands of people to enter the European Union illegally was against the laws of all 28 EU member states and common European legal norms.

“George Soros’s concept on immigration policy is dramatically tragic with regard to the future of the European Union, and it is a concept that he wants to realise with determined consistency”, he said. “This is not a conspiracy theory, but a conspiracy practice”, said Mr. Deutsch, according to whom George Soros’s standpoint on migration is not based on speculation, but on his previous writings and speeches.

The Prime Ministerial Commissioner said that according to this concept the countries of the European Union should accept at least one million illegal immigrants every year, and would have to raise 4.5 million forints (EUR 14600) per immigrant to finance this, for instance through reducing agricultural funding and expenditure on research & development.

Mr. Deutsch said that in his opinion George Soros would like immigration policy to be decided not by the “democratically elected representatives” of the European Union’s nation states, but by “Brussels bureaucrats who have not been elected by anyone”.

“Parallel to this, George Soros would like to do everything possible to ensure the demolition of Hungary’s effective, multi-element line of defence, which has to all intents and purposes closed the Balkan route to illegal immigrants”, he added.
