György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, has told public television channel M1 that, if necessary, the Defence Forces could start construction of the additional border fence within hours, as everything has been prepared.

Mr. Bakondi was referring to the fact that migration pressure has intensified in the Hungarian-Serbian-Romanian triple border zone.

He stressed that Hungary has deployed significant police forces to the area, and the authorities are in close contact with their Serbian and Romanian counterparts.

Mr. Bakondi also expressed the hope that, when necessary, there will also be international cooperation for building fences. He noted that a complicated migration situation has evolved which involves many uncertainties.

There is a significant pool of potential migrants, and they are arriving in a highly organised manner, he stressed.
