Hungarian institutions are following international protocols in the treatment of coronavirus patients, the head physician of the infectology ward of the South Pest Central Hospital said at the Saturday online press conference of the Operational Group responsible for the containment of the coronavirus epidemic.
In answer to a question, János Szlávik said as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the medical profession recommend the use or discontinuation of one therapy or another, the curative methods used in Hungary are adjusted to the changes in these protocols.
He also said the coronavirus can also be spread via objects, and disinfecting continues to remain strongly advised. At the same time, keeping a safe distance and the use of face masks are continued priorities in preventing the further spread of the epidemic, he highlighted.
Outlining the latest epidemic data, Spokesperson of the National Police Constabulary Kristóf Gál said in the past 24 hours seven chronic patients infected with the coronavirus have died, and with this the number of fatalities has risen to 524. The number of active infections currently stands at 1,201, and 414 persons are being treated in hospital, including 22 requiring assisted ventilation.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 3,867.
